Holywell Cemetery

I often walk in cemeteries (there's one on the other side of the fence in my yard, actually) and imagine the stories of the people lying there.  I went specifically to Holywell Cemetery in Oxford because I had read that Kenneth Grahame was buried there.  Grahame wrote the childhood classic The Wind and the Willows in 1908.

.
Kenneth Grahame's epitaph is beautiful.  It says, "To the beautiful memory of Kenneth Grahame, husband of Elspeth and father of Alastair, who passed the river on the 6th of July, 1932, leaving childhood and literature through him the more blest for all time."

I found it interesting that her age was in Roman numerals.

I wonder what this means in a cemetery.
