Creativity is up for discussion in AP English this week as we talk about its significance by examining the control of it/ lack of it in Orwell's 1984. On Tuesday we will watch and discuss Ken Robinson's TED talk "How schools kill creativity." When I was growing up, I thought a person was either born creative or not, but now there is phenomenal research and advice on how everyone can tap into their own creative resources. I really enjoyed Mason Currey's book Daily Rituals: How Artists Work (2013) where he writes about the daily routines of some of the world's most creative people and Bruce Nussbaum's Creative Intelligence: Harnessing the Power to Create, Connect, and Inspire (2013).
