Play-Doh Superhero Conversations
Ever wonder what Penguin Boy would say to Rhino-Man? In Writing Lab this week, we worked on reviewing and practicing the skill of writing engaging dialogue between characters using correct punctuation. First, we created our own superheroes out of
play-doh. Then we wrote online dating
profiles for our characters to introduce them to the class. Students all picked a fellow superhero as a
conversation partner for the two-page creative dialogues they are currently
writing, due next week after final exams.

Play-Doh Art Gallery
Last week, our English 12 class finished our review of Oedipus Rex by creating play-doh symbols representing Oedipus, Jocasta, Kreon, and Teiresias. We then had fun doing a "gallery walk" to check out the masterpieces.
(Thanks to Amy Harter for the inspiration to use play-doh in the classroom.)

Putting the "Field" in Field Trip!
The Adventures in Service Learning in our Writing Lab elective continued today with a trip to Stepping Stone School of Horsemanship in Franksville. Students spent most of the day working with horse poop with NO complaints!
